ENS names in Aurora
Choose an ENS domain, buy and renew a name, customize its records and image, or manage a migrated SAYC name.

Buy a name
Enter a name without .eth and choose Check availability. Search also checks as you type. Choose Register beside an available full name to begin the wallet review. Each published domain offers public paid registration, paid registration restricted to approved NFT holders, or public registration with holder discounts. Premium is not required.
If Registrations aren’t open yet appears, no domains have been opened for new registrations. This is different from a particular name being unavailable or an availability check failing. Existing Aurora names can still be managed under My names.
Labels use 3–63 letters, digits or hyphens and cannot begin or end with a hyphen. Names are normalized before checking availability. Admin, support and official are reserved by default; existing or expired registered names cannot be taken by a new buyer.
Connect and sign in
Use Connect to register beside the search results, then select Register for your chosen name. Use the wallet that will own it. Where an NFT is required, that wallet must hold the qualifying ERC-721 or specified ERC-1155 balance.
Protect your request
Review the full name and submit the reservation transaction. It costs network gas only. This protects against copying your pending purchase, but does not guarantee availability.
Complete registration
After at least 60 seconds, complete the second transaction within 24 hours. Review the name price plus network gas. Changed prices or access rules can require a fresh reservation. The contract rechecks payment, ownership eligibility and availability.
Resume safely
If you close the page, use Resume review or Complete reserved registration. Check wallet activity before retrying. You can recover an actual Ethereum transaction hash from your wallet, including a replacement transaction.
Renewal and ownership
Each registration or renewal buys one full year. Early renewal adds a year to the remaining term. Aurora refuses a purchase that would extend beyond the parent domain’s expiry; the administrator must renew the parent first.
The base renewal price is capped when a name is registered. Later lower prices and qualifying discounts can reduce it. A migrated name receives its ceiling at its first paid renewal. Selling the qualifying NFT does not remove name ownership, editing rights or paid renewal rights.
After expiry the name stops resolving and cannot transfer, but its NFT remains owned and the name stays reserved for that owner. There is no automatic release or auction. Renewal reminders download a calendar event with alerts 30, 7 and 1 day before expiry; import it into your calendar. They do not charge or renew automatically.
Addresses, websites and images
Manage a name to set Ethereum and supported EVM network receiving addresses, an HTTPS website, an IPFS website, description and social records. Empty network fields remove those records. Review the changes and gas before saving.
Every name starts with an Aurora image. Upload PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 5 MB, adjust the square crop, and use the preview. Uploads are re-encoded and pinned to IPFS. Save the record update to apply the image. You can also use it as your ENS avatar, or restore the default.
NFT images and ENS avatars are separate records. Compatible marketplaces can refresh the NFT image after an update, but their cache timing varies.
Use as my Ethereum primary name requires the name to resolve to your connected owner wallet. It is a separate transaction and cannot change another wallet’s primary name.
Send a name
Send transfers the Aurora NFT and management rights to the recipient. The Ethereum receiving address becomes the recipient. Other network addresses, text records, website, custom image and profile visibility reset. The default Aurora image and avatar return.
These resets also apply to transfers made outside Aurora, including marketplaces. The recipient chooses their own primary name. An upload prepared before ownership changes cannot be applied through Aurora after the name transfers away and back.
Use Check a name to inspect ownership, receiving address, expiry and primary-name status. A QR code contains the receiving address; verify it before sending funds.
Existing SAYC names
For names approved for replacement, migration preserves exact names, holders, receiving addresses and remaining terms from the announced finalized snapshot. Holders do not pay to repurchase replacements and do not need Premium or an approved NFT. Future Aurora renewals are paid.
The legacy registration controllers must be disabled on chain before the final snapshot. This does not pause old NFT transfers: replacement recipients are the holders at the announced snapshot block.
An administrator can explicitly leave unresolved names on legacy. Those holders keep their old NFTs and existing ENS records; Aurora does not issue a replacement, guess a receiving address, or manage those names. The review preserves each original record and the recorded decision. Pending entries still block approval until reviewed.
Names left on legacy follow the old resolver’s behavior, and old management operations may be affected by moving the parent. Expiry does not automatically release them for resale or guarantee that their old records stop resolving. Existing child ownership prevents normal Aurora registration of the same name. A name left out of the approved replacement plan cannot later be added to that plan.
The old NFT remains a legacy token. Control moves to the Aurora replacement when that name is migrated. New registrations remain closed until every approved replacement has been distributed.
Add domains and administer Names
Register additional parent domains through ENS, then add them in Admin → Names. Supported parents are unwrapped second-level .eth domains. Each domain reuses the pricing and Names contracts, with independent prices, NFT rules, reservations and registration status. Wrapped parents need a separate reviewed integration.
Add NFT rules to the draft, then Apply policy on chain. Rules may apply to every name under a domain or a particular label. Mark a specific label as NFT restricted to require eligibility there. The highest applicable discount wins without stacking, and every purchase remains paid.
Pausing registrations does not stop existing owners editing or renewing. Treasury changes affect future fees; previously credited fees stay withdrawable by their recipient. Use multisignature wallets for parent ownership and contract administration.
Names monitoring shows pending requests, confirmations, errors, request limits, cache usage and parent health. Renew parents well in advance; the dashboard highlights parent deadlines and custody changes. No domain or contract is deployed automatically by an application update.
